Greetings in The Name of Jesus Christ, our Advocate,
Troubleshooting
Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seem best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12: 9-11 NKJV
It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn your statutes. Psalms 119:71 NKJV
There is much confusion in the Body of Christ in regards to the discipline of The Lord. Believers claim they are enduring attacks from the enemy when in actuality their Heavenly Father is spanking them. Part of this confusion lies in the fact that Abba uses our enemies and impacts of the fall to discipline us. In order to differentiate between the discipline of The Lord and attacks from the enemy, walking in the reality of Christ’s righteousness is imperative.
For the born-again child of God there are in reality only two sources for earthly struggles. One, our Heavenly Father disciplines us because we are walking in disobedience and we lack holiness, Two, because we are walking in obedience and holiness, the powers of darkness and wicked men persecute us. This persecution occurs in both the spirit and the flesh realm.
The discipline of The Father is contingent upon our spiritual age. A new born believer is often given much grace and infinite patience. As we grow into adolescence, the lessons and discipline increase. The lectures become more painful and specific. Your heavenly Father will leave nothing unaddressed. As a spiritual adult we are expected to walk in total obedience. Failure at this juncture is often dealt with severely.
deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 1 Corinthians 5:5 NKJV
If you do not want to be disciplined, walk in obedience.
Do not confuse the discipline of The Lord with the wrath of God. Discipline is applied to God’s born-again children. The goal is love and restoration. Wrath is for the unrepentant wicked.
In the next troubleshooting letter we will address our Father’s discipline or what we call ” breaking ,” in more detail.
I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, 1 Corinthians 1:4 NKJV
