Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Psalms 100:1 NKJV
Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! Sing to the Lord, all the earth. Psalms 96:1 NKJV
Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp! Psalms 150:3 NKJV
” You , O king, have made a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image; Daniel 3:10 NKJV
But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. James 3: 8-9 NKJV
In today’s letter, we will consider the ear gate. In the same manner as visuals entering the eye gate, all sounds that go into our ears enter our body, soul, and spirit. In similar fashion to the eye gate, sounds and words have profound impact on our inner man.
The above scriptures are just a few of the many that relate to sounds and words and their relationship to righteousness.
Sounds and words originate from one of two sources. They are either birthed by The Holy Spirit or they are birthed by sinful men and or dark entities. There is no middle ground. Willfully listening to music or words not orchestrated by The Holy Spirit will eventually manifest negatively in our emotions and physical bodies. Listening to the sounds of the enemy always lead to spiritual atrophy and lukewarmness. As with the eye gate, the effects may not manifest immediately.
The Lord is patient, especially with the spiritual newborns. All maturing believers, however, must address the audibles entering the ear gate that are the result of their willful actions. We will be held accountable.
I encourage my fellow christians to hear and listen to The Word of God, Holy Spirit-anointed music, and the words of mature believers operating in their gifts. Listen to Father’s creative sounds, birds singing, rain falling, wind blowing, thunder rolling, and children laughing. We are designed and created for these sounds.
The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV
