Deeper things

In today’s letter we will address the sin of homosexuality. As with every single letter, we will let the scriptures speak. My opinion is irrelevant. For those who are caught in the sin, the shame, and the confusion of homosexuality, Jesus Christ loves you and so do I. He desires you to be whole and free.

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ” Be fruitful and multiply; Genesis 1:27-28a NKJV

” But from the beginning of creation, God ‘ made them male and female. ‘ For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, ‘ and the two shall become one flesh’, so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. ” Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” Mark 10: 6-9 NKJV

Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 1 Corinthians 7:2-3 NKJV

For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. Romans 1:26-27 NKJV

‘ You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Leviticus 18:22 NKJV

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 NKJV

In our modern culture, many have tried to make homosexuality an identity issue. It is not. The above scriptures clearly reveal our identity. We are all made in the image of God, male and female. This is our identity. The scriptures also declare that we have all fallen from this identity and are now sinners.

The scriptures further reveal that we are designed for sexual relations with a person of the opposite sex in a lifetime marriage relationship. This is our sexual identity. Many of us have also fallen from this identity.

The scriptures reveal that there are many different types of sin and homosexuality is one of them. It matters not, how, why, or when you begin to engage in the sin of homosexuality. The remedy is the same for all sin. Confess your sin. Be willing to turn from your sin. Ask Jesus Christ to forgive you, save you, and grant you the supernatural power to resist this and all temptations. He absolutely will.
