Greetings in The Name of Jesus Christ, The First and The Last,
Have you ever pondered the question, “Why did God give us a written Word?” One of Jesus Christ’s many names is ” The Word. “
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 NKJV
With this revelation about Christ, I ask the following hypothetical question. Would you choose Jesus, The Word, to have as your ever present companion or a copy of the written word? The answer would be rather obvious. We would all choose to have the person of Christ in our midst. Of course, as a born again believer in our Savior, He does live with us in the person of The Holy Spirit. Despite this fact, our Father still gave us the written Word. Why?
Remember The Garden? The Father appeared to Adam and Eve daily but after the fall, this ” physical fellowship ” was broken. Outside of the short incarnation of Jesus Christ and a few other appearances, God would never again appear in the physical realm. He will not do so again, until the glorious second coming of His Son. This broken physical fellowship was one of the consequences of our sin.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
Because of our sin, we now access The Father through faith, not sight. This rather lengthy exercise, in supposition and introduction, leads us to God’s first reason for a written Word. The Scriptures provide firm foundational material, regarding the nature and character of God, upon which we can execute faith. It provides the needed substance upon which we believe.
In our next letter, we will contemplate the second reason for God giving us a written Word.
Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. Philippians 4:20 NKJV
your brother in Christ
P.S. Jesus Christ is coming soon
