Greetings in The Name of Jesus Christ, The Truth,
Let us do a quick review of where we stand in our christian walk. We are born again and given a brand new spirit. Jesus Christ now lives in our spirit in the person of The Holy Spirit. My soul, the old man, has been crucified with Christ and in God’s eyes is done away with. My body is now quickened under the influence of The Holy Spirit and God’s promises concerning physical health belong to me.
What next? From this point forward, our walk with Christ will consist of our Heavenly Father carrying out His duties and you and me carrying out ours.
God’s duties, actually, have already been accomplished. From the human perspective, God, in the person of The Holy Spirit, will live out the christian life in and through me as I yield to His plans and purposes. The Holy Spirit provides the fruit of righteousness and the power for this dynamic walk. God will also honor all of His promises given to me.
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV
What is my duty? My duty is to nurture the relationship between Abba Father and myself. This is accomplished by the giving of my time, attention, and fellowship, to The Lord.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:5 NKJV
My responsibility is to also not yield my members to unrighteousness.
And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. Romans 6:13 NKJV
In practicality, this means obey. I obey the written word of God and I obey the specific requests of The Holy Spirit in regards to my individual walk. I resist the temptations of the old man. I don’t obey to prove and earn my righteousness. I obey out of a heart of love for what Christ has already done for me.
Since The Holy Spirit plays such an integral role in our new walk with Christ, we will spend a few letters addressing Him.
to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen. Romans 16:27 NKJV
